Quorn Reserves warmed up for their first game of the season on Monday by defeating a Blackwell Miners Welfare trialist X1 at Primrose Hill last night by 6 goals to 2. A very entertaining game saw the new look Reserve side, with only 5 players from last seasons side included in the starting line-up, score some fine goals. The Blackwell side made up of trialists played their part in giving Quorn's young reserves a good workout. Our thanks go to Blackwell for staging the game and the Hospitality we enjoyed afterwards in the Club.

Following original opponents Tipton Town Reserves dropping out of the Reserve Division 1 of the Midland Combination, we have arranged a Friendly against our near neighbors Barrow Town Reserves. Their will be NO admission charge and the game will kick off at 1pm.
18/08/2011Quorn came from behind to gain a point from the first competative game of the new season, New signing Sam Leggitt came off the bench to score two late goals after Quorn were reduced to 10 men.
13/08/2011With the Season start only 7 days away, Quorn were hopeful of building on the last two performances and were boosted with Matt Nurse taking his place between the sticks following his midweek scare.
The Home side started brightly enough but conceded a sloppy goal after 12 minutes and never recovered against a St Ives side that played a solid formation throughout.
06/08/2011Mickleover Sports took full advantage of two 2nd half spot kicks to deny a Quorn team that should have been two goals up before the break.
The woodwork came to the rescue of the visitors on more than one occasion in the 2nd period as Quorn exerted pressure in an excellent pre-season fixture.
The game ended prematurely as Matt Nurse was injured in the last minute, receiving a blow to the head and needing extensive treatment for concussion but thankfully, later recovered.
02/08/2011Quorn overcame stubborn resistance from a lively Blackstones side but deservedly went ahead with a powerful header from Skipper Kris Mathews, Kris Nurse blasted home a fine 2nd before former Quorn player Ben Easson notched a late consolation for the hosts.
30/07/2011After a goalless first 45 minutes, Quorn, who fielded only 5 players from when the sides last met in the Westerby Cup Final, succumbed to a 3 goal burst by a Hinckley side that featured former Quorn players Dan Haystead and Tom Byrne.
Quorn still experimenting with the starting line-up were without Ash Robinson, Jay Smedley and Dan Marshall but were pleased to compete in a pretty even first half that saw neither goalkeeper unduly tested. Eight 2nd half changes disrupted the shape of the Home side and Hinckley took full advantage, adapting better with their own changes to fire home 3 goals without reply.
23/07/2011Shaun Miller showed why teams from higher in the pro game are looking at him; Miller bagged a nap hand as Crewe put Quorn to the sword. The home side suffered a blow before the game when Matt Nurse dropped out through injury, it was left to young keeper Grant Wright to face the firing line as Dario Gradi brought his first choice team to Farley Way.
Quorn started brightly enough but a ball over the top saw Miller scamper clear and finish with aplomb with the home side waiting for an offside decision that never came. Miller then notched numbers 2 and 3 in rapid succession as Quorn struggled to cope with the blistering pace of the Crewe attacks. Quorn were further hampered with the loss of Jay Smedley with a hamstring problem.
Miller made it four before Ashley Westwood and Danny Shelley making it 6 before the break with another ball over the top that caught out the Home defence , it wasn’t completely 1 way traffic with Kris Nurse twice going close for Quorn. After the break Byron Moore added the seventh and Miller completed his tally with his fifth and Crewe’s eighth before being replace by Jason Oswell who promptly added the ninth. Quorn to their credit never gave up and finally got the consolation goal when Tom Weaver forced the ball over the line following great work by Tony Robinson.
Obviously a disapointing scoreline for the home team but given the quality of the opposition the players can still be pleased with their contribution to an entertaining game, the younger players will have gained from it competing very well in the latter stages of the game against the same side that days earlier had beaten Wolves from the Premier League.
19/07/2011The visit of Gary Mills’ York City side looked, on paper at least, a daunting prospect following Tuesday’s heavy defeat by Barwell but this was a vast improvement by the Home side, taking the game to the Conference team and deservedly taking the lead after 15 minutes through new signing Tony Law, who did well to turn and shoot low past startled keeper Michael Ingham.
This shock reverse saw the visitors step up a gear and Matt Nurse was forced into a couple of superb stops before the visitors got back on level terms as Jamie Reed finished smartly after a slick move carved open the Quorn rear-guard. Minutes later a thunderbolt out of the blue by Lance Oyebanjo rocketed in the top corner to put his side ahead. Quorn regrouped and went close to snatching an equaliser but went to the break still behind.
Both teams ran the changes and play became a bit disjointed but it was the visitors who increased their lead when Jason Walker turned smartly and fired low through a crowd of players just on the hour. Quorn worked hard but were unable to make an impression against a well organised York defence, all in all though, Quorn have to be very pleased with a very good performance against their illustrious opponents.
16/07/2011Quorn looked a little ring rusty in the opening 15 minutes and were duly punished for some sloppy defending as last season’s Champions, Barwell raced into a 2-nil lead, Quorn did improve after that and went close to pulling at least a goal back but the visiting defence were in commanding form.
With so many changes after the break, as is expected early pre-season, it was Barwell who slotted back into a rhythm and although Quorn missed a couple of early chances, it was former player Nigel Julien who effectively sealed an accomplished victory for his side with a superb 15 minute hat trick after coming on at half time.
12/07/2011Quorn will host the winners of the FA Cup with Budweiser Extra Preliminary round tie, between Oadby Town and Northampton Spencer, in the preliminary round to be played on Saturday the 3rd of September.
Quorn also have been given a Home tie in the Preliminary round of the FA Carlsberg Trophy, the opponents being Biggleswade Town fc from the newly named Evo-Stik Southern League Midland Division, the game will be played on Saturday the 8th of October.
08/07/2011Everyone at Quorn fc is deeply shocked and saddened to learn of Dave's sudden passing, Football has lost another true Gentleman and a top class Football Man. Our deepest sympathy goes to Sue and Craig and also the rest of His Family. Rest in Peace Dave Mate.

06/06/2011Quorn won the Westerby Cup for the first time with a thrilling 5-4 victory. Both Managers would have been pleased with the quality of the finishing but equally would have been disapointed with the defending of their respective teams. A brace from Tom Byrne and a goal apiece for Ash Robinson, Liam Turner and Kris Nurse set up the victory. With 6 goals coming in the first 30 or so minutes the crowd of 545 were thoroughly entertained with both sides committed to attacking football.

On Monday 17th the FA will be launching Respect F.C. The aim of the club is not to win silverware or secure a Champions League place; its goal will be to unite fans against the ugly side of the beautiful game to create a safe and enjoyable environment in which it can take place and as a winner of one of the FA's inaugural Respect awards last May the Evostik League is giving its support to this initiative and asks all those supporters of clubs in the League who would like to see the poor behaviour, particularly dissent, driven out of the game to join Respect F.C.
Appointing comedian and avid Bristol City fan Mark Watson as Chairman, the Club has been founded through concern from both the top level of the game and the grassroots community around abuse towards referees and poor sideline behaviour. Respect F.C. is not your usual football club; it's a football club made up of people from all walks of life, with one collective goal – to bring Respect back to the game we all love.
For every fan that joins Respect F.C., The FA has pledged to put £1 back into the Respect initiative within grassroots football (up to the value of £50,000). Members of the Club will be able to vote online at www.RespectFootballClub.com to say how this money is used at the end of the 2010 / 2011 season.
Rallying fans to get behind Respect F.C., Chairman Mark Watson has filmed an impassioned plea from the Club's modest headquarters, which features starring roles from former Liverpool captain Neil 'Razor' Ruddock, Portsmouth legend Steve Claridge and Sky Sports commentator Chris Kamara.
Depicting the intolerable bad behaviour of a gobby moron, scenes feature Neil Ruddock ruining a child's birthday party by barking abuse at the children's entertainer and singling out the birthday boy for some special attention for passing the parcel too slowly. Muddied with comedy gold, the film also sees player turned football pundit Steve Claridge donning a Strictly Come Dancing style outfit and dancing across a waterlogged pitch. The rousing closing scenes from the Chairman's speech see Mark Watson in unison with football fans wearing white Respect F.C. scarves and joining mascots from Chelsea, Bristol City, Swansea City, Nottingham Forest, Watford, Fulham, Birmingham City, Sheffield Wednesday, and Millwall to show support for the radical new club.
Respect F.C. is not just about raising awareness; it's much more than that. Everyone who is involved in the game in some way is aware of poor behaviour and knows that – be it towards referees, players or fellow fans – it is wrong. The challenge now is to unite, change people's attitudes and make them realise that verbal and physical abuse are not acceptable in the game.
Respect F.C. Chairman, Mark Watson, said: "We know that it's so much easier to take a stand against poor behaviour if you are not on your own, if you have someone else on your team. Collectively we can stand up to the gobby morons. If you'd like to show the people spoiling our game, what they're up against go to RespectFootballClub.com to join my new football club, Respect F.C., the club with one goal – to rid the game of the gobby morons."
Alex Horne, FA General Secretary, said: "Football fans from all clubs and all leagues have a collective responsibility to let others know that they will not stand for this behaviour from the grassroots of the game up to the international stage. That's why we're asking everyone, to ask everyone, to join the club and together win the match against bad behaviour."
The Evostik League has played its part this season with player dissent down by an impressive margin, Technical Area dismissals down by 80% and player dismissals down by around 20%. Now the League urges its fans to log onto www.RespectFootballClub.com and register their support to unite against the ugly side of football joining the League in its attempts to raise disciplinary standards.
