Quorn Football Club is one of the oldest in Leicestershire and was formed by a group of local Lads at the Wesleyan Chapel in 1924; although both Quorn Havelock and The Boys Brigade had teams before this date.
However, Quorn Football Club as we know it, began its rise to become high flyers among the Counties senior teams. It has produced several players that have progressed to higher levels of excellence. Jackie Lee went on to play for Leicester City and Derby County and gaining a cap for England against Ireland and scoring in the match. Dion Dublin of Aston Villa, Coventry and Manchester Utd went on to play for England on a number of occasions. Both players played as Centre Forwards. Richie Barker went on to Derby County and Notts County and later Managed Stoke City. The club gained access to the Leicestershire Senior League in 1938/39 and since that time have succeeded in winning almost every major title within the County.Over the years Quorn Football Club has played at several grounds in, and around the village but it was in 1960 that it relocated to Warwick Avenue. Here it enjoyed the reputation of always providing good hospitality and, due to the pithes natural drainage, games were very seldom called off.The club moved to its present ground on Farley Way in 1994 with the establishment of a modern Clubhouse large enough to cater for the demands of a progressive Football Club both on and off the field. It boasts a Football Pitch with a playing surface that is second to none; and a large Astro-turf training area, a feature that is available to the whole community to enjoy.Driven by the the Clubs ambition to have a ground satisfying the facility criteria of Leagues of a higher level in the football pyramid, a superb facility has developed over 11 years with the establishment of todays 350 seater Grandstand; built with the potential of increasing its future capacity to 500, larger spectator car parking facilities, outside spectator toilets, football gate facilities and the establishment of a large grass training pitch to compliment the Astro-turf. All of this to support the Clubs Football teams, if successful, to move unhindered to a higher level.Having gained promotion after winning the Leicestershire Senior League Premier Division in the 2000/2001 season, the Clubs Senior Team has now established itself in the Travel Factory Midland Alliance, Finishing in fourth position in each of the last two seasons. The reserve team have also progressed to a higher level after winning the Leicestershire Combination Division One in the 2001/2002 season joining the Midland Combination in which they have more than held their own and have enjoyed the higher standard of competition. The club also continues to run a successful under 18 Team which competes in one of the best Youth Leagues in the country in the Midland Floodlit League. This team has produced a number of quality players for todays first team, a fact reflected by the impact made by Luke Varney, who, in 2002/03 was the Midland Football Alliance leading goal-scorer; his exploits drawing the attention of a number of Football League Clubs, including Crewe Alexander, who signed Luke as a professional from Quorn in February 2003.Looking to the future, it is one of excitement and anticipation. The club needs to grow within its limitation, but has the potential and expertise to become one of the Midlands leading clubs.Membership of the club is open to anyone wishing to join. A wide variety of entertainmentwill be provided for all members. It's the Sports and Social Community Centre for Quorn and the surrounding area.
